Frequently Asked Questions

… About Even the Summer’s Shows

What shows are you working on?
We are currently working on a reality series about the behind-the-scenes life of model, Emily Alistair, called The Life of Emily Alistair.  We have previously worked on shows involving fashion models and travel.

How can I appear on one of your shows?
You can email Madeleine Harper at Simply Madeleine Harper at Gmail dot com. Harper is the head of our talent department and is in charge of all casting related issues.

How often do you do castings?
We are always interested in working with great new talents. We are constantly looking for new people, actors and models with whom we can work and audition for different ideas and concepts throughout the year. We will not put a time limit on collaborating with immensely talented people.

Do you travel outside the Chicago area to shoot?
Absolutely. In the last two years, Even the Summer has gone to New York City, Los Angeles, Detroit, Toronto, the Cayman Islands and Mexico to shoot for its series’.

Iris2Do I need an agent?
We have worked with talent with agents, talent that is represented by an attorney and talent that is representing themselves. We do not require you to have an agent to work with you. There are legal documents involved with being cast in one of projects. They are standard release forms though and can be reviewed upon request.

Can I work with you if I’m under 18?
Unfortunately, no. For ease of production, we require our subjects to be able to travel, sign releases and contracts and be on set without a parent or guardian present.

What is the pay? What type of contract would I have to sign?
These two questions are grouped together because the answer to both of them is the same: it depends. If you are the subject of an entire series, the pay will be higher and the contracts will be longer than if you were appearing as the subject of an individual show or a segment of an individual show.
Even the Summer pays for its talents’ travel expenses when traveling out of Illinois. We prefer to set flat fees for the duration of a shoot rather than work hourly. For on-camera talent that we work with for a half-day or full day, rates will vary from $50 – $600 depending on the difficulty of the shoot expectations, the amount of disrobing necessary, as well as a variety of other factors.

… About Even the Summer

What is your company history?
Even the Summer is a relatively new company that is filled with industry veterans. Even the Summer was founded by fashion photographer Chris Neumer. Neumer had a photographic brands, but wanted to form a company that specifically focused on his video work. He then created Even the Summer.

Neumer has been a top fashion photographer for the last 15 years, having shot the covers of several national magazines, worked with Oscar winning actors and actresses, as well as a handful of NBA players, Playboy Playmates and Golden Globe winners.

Even the Summer works with numerous hair stylists, wardrobe stylists and make up artists.

Where are you located?
We are located in the Oak Park area, just west of downtown Chicago.

Why ‘Even the Summer’?
Neumer is a big fan of the surfing movie, The Endless Summer. At one point in the film when one of the characters is talking about the great surf in California, he says something to the effect of, “And it’s good even in the summer.” The production company name stems from an albeit slightly shortened version of that quote.
